Last weekend the Urban Nerds crew was out in full force as we returned to XOYO in Shoreditch with a huge line-up of dubstep, UK bass, garage and funky pioneers!

Headed up by the legendary Zinc, we took over the ground floor and basement with a string of massive sets from the likes of Marcus Nasty, Scott Garcia, Rattus, Klose, Hot City and our competition winners BAD Content! Not forgetting the live highlights…two electric performances (some of the best we’ve had at Nerds in a while) from the Engine-EarZ Experiment and grime party starters, Newham Generals! It’s been a while since D Double E, Footsie and Tubby have hit the stage at Nerds and they came back with a bang last weekend!

Yes Nerds crew, tonight’s the night! We’re busy gearing up for a massive road block rave at XOYO!

As you can see, we’ve dropped the final set times for tonight. There are literally a handful of £12 advance tickets left. They WILL sell out in a couple of hours, you can grab them here.

We’ve held back lots of tickets which will be on sale on the door tonight from 9pm for £15. Capacity is limited so please arrive EARLY to avoid disappointment! Lastly for all those asking, we’re aware the clocks change tonight but rest assured this will NOT affect our set times or hours!

This Saturday the Newham Generals perform their first live show at Urban Nerds in years, with grime legends D Double E, Footsie and Rinse FM’s DJ Tubby getting set to blow the roof at XOYO!

The Newham Generals aka D Double E and Footsie are grime scene veterans and are among the most respected underground acts in the UK today, with a career spanning three decades, defined by anthems like ‘Frontline’ and ‘Prangman’. Their notoriety recently saw them collaborate with Breakage (protégé of drum & bass legend Shy FX) to release dubstep banger ‘Hard’. Today, as grime MCs soften their music in light of renewed mainstream interest, the Generals stand firm – continually versioning the biggest underground beats and working with some of the biggest and most credible producers in the UK!

Ahead of Saturday night, we’ve caught up with one half of the crew, Footsie to get hyped for their massive live show at XOYO, plus get some talk about boat parties? It’s all in here…

On Saturday 26th March Urban Nerds hit Shoreditch club XOYO for a night of mayhem headed by Zinc and Newham Generals! They’re joined by Hot City, a dance outfit on the rise, garnering increasing hype for their uncompromising mash-up of 2-step, garage, funky and ravey house led sets that are doing more that a lot to bring those epic UK garage sounds synonymous with the 90s back to dancefloors across the UK and beyond, fused with bubbly US garage sounds and supported by a string of critically acclaimed productions such as ‘Yeah’!

This exclusive mini mix from the Hot City crew sums up their fresh take on some of the UK underground’s finest beats and blips nicely and the result is a bubbly 2-step and garage mash-up with elements of UK house, packed into 20 minutes of goodness to warm you up for XOYO! They’ve also dropped in an exclusive, untitled and never before heard track…boom!

We’re offering up the chance for an up and coming DJ to join Zinc, Newham Generals, Hot City, Rattus and Klose behind the decks in the main room on Saturday 26th March for Urban Nerds at XOYO!

Whether you’re fresh on the DJ circuit or have been on the grind for a while, this is your chance to show us you’ve got what it takes to get the party going and hype the crowd at an Urban Nerds rave! We’re looking for new talent to get on the line-up, representing the likes of dubstep, electro, garage, grime, drum & bass, or a combination of the lot…as long as it’s bass heavy, we want to know about it.

The DJ with the winning mix will get to play a one hour slot at Urban Nerds on Saturday 26th March at XOYO! We’ll make sure 2 of your mates get a spot on the guest list to come and see you play and we’ll make sure you don’t go thirsty on the night! You and your mix will also be featured on the Urban Nerds website and across all of our online network so we can show the world just how good you are!

How to submit your mix

Email your mix or the relevant links in mp3 format to info@urban-nerds.com with the subject title ‘XOYO mix’ by Tuesday 1st March. Please also include any MySpace, Facebook or Twitter links you have and your full contact details.

Entry terms & conditions

- Your mix must be no more than 30 minutes long

- It must be mixed on CDJs or vinyl. You can use Serato but we will not accept mixes put together using Ableton Live

- Entries must be submitted by Tuesday 1st March 2011 with your full contact details

- You must live in the UK to enter and be able to travel to XOYO on Saturday 26th March
