Tighten Up Records play the FOUND series launch alongside Justin Martin, Instra:Mental, T.Williams, Nightwave and Deadly Rhythm Soundsytem, this Friday at Hidden, Vauxhall.

FOUND is London’s new home for deeper underground electronica this Autumn, launching a series of Friday night events devoted to the vast spectrum of genres unified by roots in pioneering bass music. From progressive dubstep, dub-techno, and UK house strands to 2-step, garage, four-to-the-floor and drum & bass, FOUND will connect the artists, labels and promoters at the forefront of underground British dance music across 13 carefully programmed events.

Since MistaJam first dropped this bass infused electro banger at the start of the year, the Time Takers’ massive ‘She Blows’ has been bubbling-up on the underground as well as smashing it in sets nationwide (can remember a good few drops at Snowbombing this year too). Now Ministry of Sound are dolling out the goodness with a free download!

The 5th and final mix in our series of Urban Nerds 4th Birthday bangers comes from original Urban Nerds resident and supporter of all things bass, Rattus Rattus, as he gears up for a mammoth set at Scala with partner in crime, Klose One!

Since joining the Nerds crew way back when in 2007, Rattus has developed a distinct, no-limits and genre crossing style of mash-up party sounds, with a healthy injection of bass. Whether dubstep, electro, garage, grime or funky, he always hits the spot with a unique style that’s been known to encompass rare samples, the odd indie anthem, deeper, darker beats and of course a trademark Prodigy drop here and there!

This bass explosion has seen him take to the decks for some of the UK’s biggest underground promoters, with regular appearances for the likes of Bigger Than Barry, Under The Radar, Vagazbondz and Reclaim The Dancefloor, in a slew of world-class clubs such as Fabric, Matter, Sankeys, Motion and Ministry of Sound. Moving cross-country, Rattus has also touched the White Isle, with various Ibiza sets, plus European excursions to Snowbombing, Outlook Festival, Rumble Festival and beyond. With highlights that include the mighty Glastonbury, Ibiza pool parties and epic warehouse madness from Nerds and Bigger Than Barry, Ratty has most definitely landed on the bass circuit!

To celebrate this journey and of course our 4th Birthday, this ‘Way Back Then’ mix looks to some of the biggest rave starters that have kicked-off at Urban Nerds throughout the past 4 years, with Rattus reaching for dubstep classics from the likes of Rusko, Skream, Benga, Caspa, Cotti and Coki and going further back to timeless garage anthems. This sick Sunday event takes place in one of our favourite Shoreditch warehouse spots, The Hearn Street Car Park, where Hearn Street itself will also be blocked off for that proper street party vibe! As well as the tunes, there’s showcases from some of the top skaters and breakers in the country, live graffiti and a huge range of underground streetwear labels setting up stands so you can get hold of a few exclusive garms while you’re at it! After much deliberation at Urban Nerds HQ, we’re pleased to reveal that South East dubstep collective BAD Content have swiped up first place for our Urban Nerds at XOYO DJ competition and will be joining Zinc, Newham Generals, Marcus Nasty Presents, Rattus, Klose and many more on Saturday 26^th March!

With such a high calibre of mixes all round, it’s taken a little longer than expected to find a stand out winner! Compiled on Pioneer CDJs, BAD Content’s mix stood out for its bold, bass heavy combinations of classic grime bars, electro anthems and dubstep beats (including a few scene staples), making for a ravey half hour of mash-up madness that’s understood Urban Nerds’ eclectic party vibe and turned it on its head with their own signature style.

Strictly speaking, we’ve heard it’s B.A.D (Bass and Dub) Content and the crew certainly live up to their name on this one.  Formed in 2009, their live show sees the two DJs responsible for the winning mix (Major and ZeBeDe) joined by MC Sweet, who’ll be taking to the mic with them on Saturday 26th. The trio have been bringing dubstep to Essex through their quick fire sets ever since playing a string of venues, including their own Bass & Dub night which is ‘100% Dubstep’! They’re also holding down a weekly slot on Force 106.5FM showcasing new talent that they’ve also championed through a popular mix series.

Long time Nerds favourites Tomb Crew are moving from strength to strength after the recent bass-bomb of a release they dropped on Trouble & Bass!

The three man super team have been busy in the studio again and are now getting ready to drop lots of goodness on independent labels Top Billin and Black Butter Records. To celebrate they’ve put together a sick quick-fire mix comprised strictly of the crew’s own productions, including four of the forthcoming tracks.
