I was pointed in the direction of the new video for KOAN Sound‘s ‘Funk Blaster’ earlier. Usually I just watch cute kitteh videos on YouTube, but figured, ‘What the heck! New year new habits’, so dismissed three minutes of fur for some brashy electro.

After a few minutes of seeing tentacles, space and machines, I started fearing that the clip would descend in to some eyeball scorching (and NSFW) hentai, but luckily it has a happy ending – NO, NOT THAT KIND.

Bristol boys Will Weeks and James Bastow are signed to Skrillex’s OWLSA label, and are getting a lot of kudos from the US right now. It’s always good to see some Brits done good!

The video is directed by LA-based Scott Pagano, a video artist with a really slick nouveau industrial vision. He’s previously worked with electronic behemoths like Monolake, Richard Devine and Chris Liebling. Check out his Vimeo channel for more.

If you wanna see them live, they’ll be in the UK next month. On 10th Februrary they’ll be at Fabric, and on the 18th they’ll be at Wales’ best club night, CYNT in Cardiff.

Street Fest went off with a bang this year, with the likes of Wretch 32, Marcus Nasty, Rattus Rattus & Klose One and Next Men performing. Big up to every one who can down to support the venue was packed out by 3.30pm. Check out the videos below from this years Street Fest.

Broadcast collective Extra Medium have just dropped a day-in-the-life video following around the UK bass, dancehall and ragga infused producer extraordinaire that is Toddla T, featuring some tasty footage filmed at his first Urban Nerds appearance at our Carnival warm-up warehouse event last year!

As well as crazy studio antics at the Roller Express HQ he shares with Redlight, guest appearances from northern upstart and one-to-watch, Mele, plus the mighty MC Trigga, the crew follow Toddla across the country to smash a festival in Derby then hit the road to LDN to the unforgettable madness of the Urban Nerds X Bigger Than Barry Carnival warehouse rave, featuring bars from long-time T collaborators Serocee and Lady Chann!

With six tunes in total there are enough different styles and sounds going on with this release, it’s rowdy, errie and dark in places, but above all it shows the diverse abilities of the Foreign Beggars who have fully adapted from their hip hop roots and invested their skills over a number of new tempos and styles that are currently championing the countries nightclubs.
