Interview with Murlo + Exclusive Wineyard Mini Mix

As the UK drags its way out of the bitter winter we all love to hate, we have a Producer and DJ by the name of Murlo who is flawless at delivering tropical sounds on the UK Bass scene. Getting calls from producers to remix their tracks like Slackk, Whole Sick and BD1982 all want that signature Calypso Soca sound that Murlo is making a name for.

With the brand new Wineyard EP being released this week on his on label, we thought we would catch up with Murlo to find out about his next big moves and what influenced the party favourite ‘Windbreaker Riddim’ on his new EP.

Tell us about your most recent release?

Wineyard E.P is the most recent release to date, all the tracks were made within a short space of each other over winter. I’ve been wanting to make a bashy release for a while, since the Nectah release last year so I was keen to get them out myself through Bandcamp.

What else can we expect to see from you in 2012 with regard to collaborations remixes?

I want to collaborate more! I’ve got a few tunes I’m working on with various artists from the UK, i’m always up for linking cross coast though. As for remixes there are a couple in the works, was thrilled to be asked to work with Mr OK’s vocal for his upcoming release on Masalacism as well as working with the guys from Malibu Rockers.

What makes Murlo weak at the knees?

Haha, I’m a robot when it comes the emotional stuff. Very little.

What is next to Murlo right now and what would he like next to him right now?

Last night’s dirty plates that need washing up and a dusty Akai MPK mini. Too revealing that is. Wish I had a beer.

Sometimes Murlo likes to…..?

Play video games and listen to radio 4.

Girls that break wind…..For or Against?

Well, my girlfriend farts, I blame it on myself for farting in front of her first, you don’t break down that wall early on but we been together for a while so it’s cool. She’s gonna kill me when she reads this.

Murlo has put together a Mini mix for Urban Nerds which features dancehall and bashment tracks which helped him to shape his new EP.
