This Saturday one of Shoreditch’s latest warehouse ventures, The Basement, plays host to seminal techno DJ Andrew Weatherall, who’ll be playing an immense night-long set in the undercover concrete surroundings of this intimate venue! Although Weatherall may have bypassed the radars of some of us ‘urban’ lot, do not be fooled…the man’s undoubtedly a lynchpin in the movement of underground electronica, with roots DJing the original acid house scene in the late 80s, the same scene that would eventually give birth to a string of sounds that would one day influence jungle, drum & bass, garage and in turn, dubstep.
This Saturday is one for the tech heads though, as Weatherall takes to the decks all night long to show off an unrivaled record collection, so expect a few surprises in the mix! With hugely varied production under his belt that spans the likes of Björk, and Primal Scream, this is a DJ of the highest order. Expect an eclectic journey of beats and blips that touch on the finest house and techno around. Go get some headucation and skank out until the early hours…this one’s on until 6am!
