The Producers | Episode 3: Diplo & Lee Scratch Perry

Earlier this month we introduced the new series Vice have embarked on with VBS.TV, ‘The Producers’, with the first edition featuring a great day-in-the-life with Skanky Skanky selector Toddla T. Episode 3 has hit top trumps, giving a rare glimpse into an epic studio session at the Red Bull Music Academy that saw living legend dub and reggae producer Lee Scratch Perry, side by side with Mad Decent head honcho and one half of Major Lazer, Diplo!

This is really worth a watch, as it’s not often that Lee Scratch Perry is caught on camera, let alone up close and personal during sacred studio time. His unique, whacky and some would say down right brilliant approach to making music is inspiring. Whether you’re down with the eccentricity or not, you can’t argue with this man’s back catalogue! This time he’s with Diplo, adding Jamaican dub flare and his trademark, softly delivered, yet consistently hard-hitting vocals to the electro infused reggae that’s become synonymous with Major Lazer over the past year.
